Grain Warehouse/Dealer and Agricultural Cooperatives
This area of the Department of Agriculture licenses grain dealers and
grain warehouses and examines the books and records of each at least
once annually, checking for compliance with the Illinois Grain Code. The
Bureau registers agricultural cooperatives and specialty farm product
buyers.
Administation of the Illinois Grain Insurance Fund which offers
protection to producers and grain depositors against financial losses in
the event of a grain dealer and/or grain warehouse failure is also a
Bureau responsibility.
