Meadowbrook Farms Cooperative

We’re a 200 family farm cooperative using one of the oldest forms of business organization to bring one of the newest, most sophisticated meat plants into production. Our members own and control every facet of the business:

  • We raise the hogs
  • We own the processing plant
  • We are the governing board of directors
We are intensely committed to each step from farm to table. The decisions we make protect the quality of our pork, so you can be sure that Meadowbrook Farms is the freshest, safest, best-tasting pork you can serve.

We are based in the Midwest-- one of the best agricultural regions in the world. This means we have access to the highest quality feed and support for our hog farms. And we’ve brought some European flair to the heartland with a very specialized, state-of-the-art and small-scale plant production process.

This means our customers can buy the same prime cuts of meat farmers serve their own families. We also provide them with custom processing, private labeling, consistent portion control, value-added services and much more.

Their four new International Flavors are:
  • Adobo Pork
  • Mojo Pork
  • Chipotle
  • Chimichurri Pork

Their other Flavors/Products include:
  • Lemon Herb Tenderloin
  • Teriyaki Tenderloin
  • Italian-Style Tenderloin

THE GSI GROUP

Since the mid-1970's the GSI Group, Inc. has been providing products for the agricultural industry. Headquartered in Assumption, Illinois, GSI has sales and manufacturing facilities throughout the US, as well as Canada, Brazil, China, Malaysia, Mexico, South Africa and the United Kingdom. With one of the largest and most extensive dealer networks in the agricultural equipment sector, The GSI Group, Inc. has the expertise and resources to supply products to more than 75 countries worldwide.

The GSI Group, Inc. consists of several divisions each devoted to producing quality products and services. Some of the divisions are devoted to grain storage, drying and handling, while others are focused specifically on the swine and poultry industries.

Grain Systems (GSI), GSI International, David Manufacturing Company (DMC), Farm Fans, and GrainKing are the divisions responsible for grain storage, drying and material handling for The GSI Group, Inc. GSI in particular is the world's largest producer of galvanized steel storage bins with more than 1000 models available. In 1997, DMC was acquired to expand the company’s grain drying and material handling product lines with such popular offerings as DMC’s Grain Flow automatic in-bin continuous flow grain drying system, and quality fans and heaters. Farm Fans Corporation and Zimmerman Company were acquired in 2001 to further supplement the GSI Group’s line of grain conditioning and drying equipment. Lastly, the Grain King division was established to focus specifically on bin loading and unloading equipment. Combined, this group of divisions continue to make The GSI Group truly a one-stop source for all grain storage, drying, and handling needs.

One of the strengths of The GSI Group has been the company's ability to diversify their product lines to better address industry needs. One of the ways the company has accomplished this is by also manufacturing products for the swine and poultry industry. Cumberland is a GSI Group division devoted entirely to providing quality poultry equipment to producers around the world. Cumberland offers feeding systems, feed storage and delivery, watering systems, building ventilation and controls, heaters, nesting equipment and more.

While Cumberland’s focus is on the poultry industry, Automated Production Systems (AP) is the division devoted to swine production equipment. AP is known throughout the world for manufacturing affordable and durable equipment used in the swine industry including such innovations as Feed Link feed inventory monitoring, Micro-Meter for precise and immediate application of medication and feed additives, Ultra-Drop feeders, and Expert™ ventilation controls.

In May 2005, the GSI Group was acquired by Boston-based Charlesbank Capital Partners, a private investment/equity firm. Under Charlesbank, The GSI Group has continued to expand and strengthen their market position.

AgriFirst Grants Due 5 p.m., Dec. 15, 2006

The Fiscal Year 2007 budget includes $564,480 for the Department of Agriculture's AgriFIRST program which promotes "valued-added" agricultural ventures, or projects that turn raw commodities into marketable products and enable farmers to earn a larger share of the consumer dollar.
