Futters Nut Butters

There are many companies that make nut butter. However, we believe Futters nut Butters is the best choice for those who care about:

Quality: we are a family business and make a personal commitment to the quality of our products. We use the best nuts/seeds and make our products “fresh to order”, low temp in small artisan batches. We buy most of our products from small farmers so we know what we are getting. We will do whatever is necessary to assure a satisfied customer.

Taste: we will not sacrifice taste for price. We choose nuts and seeds that taste the very best and constantly seek feedback to assure we are providing a great tasting product.

Nutrition: our nut and seed butters are great sources of nutrition. Our only ingredients are nuts and seeds in our basic varieties. Our “Phenomenal Flavors” have only natural flavor oils added to the nuts. Our chocolates are jus the cacao and cacao butter (often called dark chocolate liquor-no alcohol) and our sweetener is minimal, organic and unrefined; maintaining vitamins, minerals and enzymes. Our nut butters have no preservatives or additives. There are no glutens, no dairy, no cholesterol, no trans fats, no salt. Our methods used to make the butters retain the integrity of the nuts from the fresh taste to the nutrients they hold.

Choice: we offer both certified organic and all natural choices, that you will not easily find in the marketplace. In addition ot the largest variety of pure nut butters, there are the exquisite blends of fruit and chocolate flavors for the sophisticate.

Sustaining Our Environment and our Agricultural Community: we will do everything we can to help protect our environment and sustain our agicultural community. Wherever available, we buy directly from farmers, not big distributors. We are certified organic and offer a complete line of organic products. We recycle whatever we can, including boxes, packing material and supplies. All of our products come in recyclable glass jars. We are a proud member of Co-Op America, the premier organization supporting the “green” community.

Fair Trade: we believe the farmers should receive a fair price for their products to assure high quality, environmental protection and a fair income. When we must buy from non U.S. producers (because the product is not grown here, such as our chocolate) we seek out “fair trade” sources.

Hopefully, you can see that we are not just another “nut butter corporation”.

Natural and organic … our varieties are unique, great tasting and pure:

Safe Lawn Weed and Feed
Safe Lawn is Corn Gluten Meal. Corn Gluten Meal is a product of the corn milling industry. It has been used for years as a feed ingredient and in many pet foods. Recently, corn gluten meal was found to be an excellent all natural and organic weed and feed product for lawns and gardens.

Weed Control
Researchers at Iowa State have shown Corn Gluten Meal to have preemergence weed control properties. Through persistent use, Safe Lawn will control the emergence of crabgrass, clover, foxtail, dandelions, perslane, lamb's quarter, creeping bentgrass, smart weed, redroot pigweed, banyardgrass, and Bermudagrass. In trials, Corn Gluten Meal reduced crabgrass by 91 percent over a three year period. However, there is no post emergence weed control with Safe Lawn or any Corn Gluten Meal product, therefore weeds already established will not be controlled.

Fertilizer
Safe Lawn contains 9 percent nitrogen. Safe Lawn is all natural, making it an excellent slow releasing source of nitrogen. Using the recommended application rate Safe Lawn will provide your lawn with 4.50 pounds of nitrogen per 2500 square feet. Being all natural, Safe Lawn is slow releasing and will feed your lawn over a long period of time.

Safe Lawn is marketed by All Star Trading

Illinois State Fair - Illinois Products Promotion

Springfield, Illinois

Promote (and sell) your Illinois food products at the 2007 Illinois State Fair

Again this year, the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Marketing & Promotion is coordinating “Illinois Products” food sampling and selling (selling is optional) during the 2007 Illinois State Fair. This year, the Illinois State Fair will be held August 10-19, 2007, in Springfield, IL. Up to eight companies can participate on each day.

Illinois food companies can sample and sell their products for any number of days that you choose. Your cost to participate is only 5% of your gross sales. (If you don’t sell, you don’t pay anything.)

If your company has a pre-packaged product(s), staff of the Division of Marketing will pass out the samples for you during the fair. We recommend that you provide a minimum of 1,500 samples (however, we will distribute any amount that you provide).

Food sampling/selling will be done in the Illinois Department of Agriculture tent (60 ft. x 90 ft.) located on the east side of the fairgrounds (near the Lincoln Stage). Food sampling/selling hours will be 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. each day. Admission onto the fairgrounds and parking are complimentary for participating company representatives. Refrigeration and a food preparation trailer will be available to participating companies at no cost. The tent is located in a “high traffic” area and consumer interest in this area has been very good in past years.

Illinois Products Demonstrations at the Illinois State Fair

Illinois State Fairgrounds
Springfield, Illinois

Within the Heartland area of the Illinois State Fair, the Illinois Department of Agriculture, Bureau of Marketing and Promotion (IDOA, M&P) coordinates the Gazebo area that spotlights Illinois companies and products with cooking demonstrations and subsequent samplings of the prepared recipes. This area has a very transient audience, but the sampling allows time to personally visit with people from all over Illinois about the company and its products. During last year's fair, there were an estimated 250 individuals that viewed each demonstration and sampled the prepared recipe.

The responses from those tasting the products were extremely positive. Most asked where they could purchase the products or get recipes that incorporated the products.

We are looking for Illinois companies that have products that they would like to demonstrate with a recipe or even several recipes and then sample the demonstrated recipe.

The Illinois State Fair is being held on the Illinois State Fairgrounds in Springfield from August 10 – 19, 2007. We will have seven scheduled times each day for demonstrations. Available times this year will be: 11 am, Noon, 1 pm, 2 pm, 3 pm, 4 pm and 5 pm.

Another option for companies that cannot send a representative is to have IDOA, M&P staff present the recipe demo and the samples. Your company product would need to be shipped to the Department in plenty of time for preparation. We would also need recipes, brochures, a list of retail outlets where the product is available and other related information to allow for a complete presentation to the audience.

Time slots will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis, so contact Delayne Reeves at 217/524-9129 or delayne.reeves@illinois.gov at your earliest convenience.
