Fairgoer Services

The administration offices are located in the Emmerson Building on Main Street, diagonally across from the Exposition Building. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. during the Fair.Phone: 217/782-6661

A private area for nursing and diaper-changing is available in the South Wing of the Emmerson Building, in the Kids Korner. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Free entertainment is also provided.

Strollers, double strollers, wheelchairs and electric scooters will be available to rent daily 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Grandstand Avenue near the Goat Barn and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Illinois Building. Items can be returned to the Illinois Building until 10 p.m.

SMTD buses operate daily throughout the Fair with a special shuttle schedule to accommodate fairgoers. Fairgoers can catch the bus at the Main Gate on Sangamon Avenue. For bus schedule information, please call 217/522-5531, TDD 217/522-8594. Taxi service will also be available outside the Main Gate.

The Sangamon County Chapter of the American Red Cross operates a First Aid Station in the Emmerson Building Annex. Hours are from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
Most restrooms and buildings on the fairgrounds are accessible. See the map for marked accessible restrooms and buildings. In accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, any attendee requiring reasonable accommodation should notify us of their needs when ordering Grandstand tickets. An accessible tram unit is available on the grounds. Motorized wheelchairs are available for rent at the Senior Center inside the Illinois Building. Signers/interpreters are available for information.

Information Booths have been conveniently placed throughout the fairgrounds. Fairgoers can inquire at five locations: near the entrance of the Main Gate, on Main Street at the four-way stop, across from the north end of the Grandstand and at the three-way stop near the Livestock Center, and at the south end of the Pedestrian Tunnel. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

The Lost and Found Children's Center is located south of the Grandstand on Grandstand Avenue. The Illinois State Police broadcasts emergency announcements from their booth on Illinois Avenue and from their headquarters on Grandstand Avenue. The center is open daily during regular Fair hours.

The U.S. Postal Service is located in the Exposition Building and offers all regular mailing services. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., closed from 12:00 to 1:00 pm for lunch, during the Fair.
Trams operate full tours of the fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. Fairgoers may board at any of the following 12 loading areas located on Central Avenue across from Old Firehouse; Gate 2 Area/ The Heartland near AFL/CIO Pavilion; Race Horse Barn Area-north of Carnival Midway; Race Horse Barn Area-Racing Office; Gate 6; Goat Barn-north of the Grandstand; Conservation World; 4-H Lane and 8th Street Road; The Arena and 8th Street Road; Campgrounds; Happy Hollow at Watershed Park entrance and Illinois Building- Senior Center. Two single-unit handicapped accessible tram units are also available.

The Sky Ride runs from the south end of the Grandstand to the corner of Gate #2. It offers an excellent aerial view of the fairgrounds. The Sky Ride operates from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.
