CHILLI COOKOFFS AND RACING ACTION HEAT UP THE FINAL DAY OF THE 2003 ILLINOIS STATE FAIR

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -- For the third year in a row Frank Kimmel in car #46 won the Allen Crowe Memorial 100 Sunday at the Illinois State Fairgrounds mile dirt track in Springfield.

Doug Keller in #5 again came in second, followed by Mark Gibson in #59. Springfield native Justin Allgaier finished twenty-eighth and Dale Jarrett’s son, Jeff Jarrett, placed seventh.

In the Twenty Lap Feature, Jeff Leka of Buffalo in the #31 car finished first, followed by Bob Smith of Godfrey in car #87 and car #22 driven by Darrell Dick of Mansfield. Bob Smith also won in the Last Chance Race. Ben Hulse of Flannigan was second and Tony Griffin of East Peoria finished third.

Bryan Glass of Springfield won Abe’s Amble, finishing the 10K run in 30 minutes, 23.42 seconds. Jackson Johnson of Lincoln was second. Casey Becker of Divernon won the 2K race with a time of 6:48.75. In the women's division, Kelly Fox of Decatur won the 10K and Liz Chandler of Petersburg finished first in the 2K. The race was open to runners ranging from 14 years old and younger to 60 years of age and older. Participants ran from the fairgrounds for a distance of 6.2 miles or 1.24 miles.
