Buildings on the Illinois State Fairgrounds

The Artisans Building overlooks the Agri Expo area of the state fairgrounds. This 6,300 square foot building can accomodate 44 10'x8' exhibit booths. Heated and air conditioned, this building has finished hardwood floors and has also been used for wedding receptions.

The historic Fairgrounds Coliseum has a 27,956 square foot arena ring and seats 2,688. Adjacent to the south side of the Coliseum is a 103'x137', 14,111 square foot outdoor warm up ring. The west end has a 9'6" entry way. The arena floor has a concrete base covered with 6"dirt and topped with 2-4"sawdust.


Click here for larger image.The Exposition Building is a unique venue with a 34,800 square foot main floor and 25,774 square foot mezzanine area. An 11'6"wide by 13'10"high overhead door provides excellent large item entry and the 4,000 pound capacity elevator provides access to the second level. This building also has a gallery area on the main floor that is 40'x 68' or 2,720 square foot.

Known as the world's fastest mile, this dirt track with its 8,912 permanent seating grandstand can serve as an outdoor concert venue and regularly hosts harness horse and motorsports racing. Office and exhibit space inside the grandstand also offer areas for vendors and event organizers.

The first building seen as you enter the Main Gate, the Illinois Building is home to Senior Activities during the Illinois State Fair and hosts numerous events throughout the year. The main floor of the Illiniois Building has a 12,272 square foot auditorium, theater with seating for 470, dressing area, stage and restrooms. A unique rooftop venue is also available as well as concession and food storage areas.

Click here for larger image.The Multi-purpose arena is the newest addition to the fairgrounds and has already hosted the nation's high school rodeo finals and short track motorcycle racing. Able to hold more than 7,000 spectators this venue also has night lighting and sound system capabilities.

Click here for larger image.Located across the street from the multi-purpose arena, the Livestock Center has two floors available for livestock showing or auction purposes. The ground floor area has overheard doors for entry and approximately 100 tie outs in the 145' x 100' exhibit space. Heating and air-conditioning are available as well as restrooms, ring sound system and two 21' x 9' concession areas.

With two overhead doors and loading Click here for larger image.dock area, ease of entry for vendors is assured. Public restrooms and office space is also available in the Orr Building. Electrical outlets and water faucets are also plentiful in this building.
