Green City Market is a 501 (c) (3) not for profit organization celebrating our 12th anniversary. Operating as Chicago’s only year round farmer\'s market, Green City Market supports and promotes local, sustainable agricultural practices. The mission of Green City Market is to provide a marketplace for purchasing sustainably grown food that educates, promotes and connects farmers and local producers directly to chefs, restaurateurs and the greater Chicago community. Our vision is to create a national marketplace model for distributing, promoting and educating about local sustainably-grown food. Green City Market values education about quality food and its source. We value farmers who take care of the land; the preservation of sustainably farmed land; a vibrant thriving community of local farms; and consumption of locally grown foods Green City Market showcases sustainable practices (and we have been promoting the importance of supporting these practices for over twelve years). Our farmers preserve the land and their growing practices make Green City Market a vital food and environmental enterprise. From that first year in 1998 next to the Chicago Theatre to the present time, Green City Market has morphed into Chicago’s most vital farmer’s market that industry leader Alice Waters calls "the best sustainable market in the country.” Green City Market’s incredible momentum comes from our broad base of support including conscientious and caring farmers and producers, consumers, chefs, restaurateurs and other culinary professionals. It also reflects Chicagoans\' increasing concern for a more sustainable food system by improving the quality of food on our table produced by local farmers using organic and sustainable practices that preserves the environment for future generations. GCM\'s support of these local artisan farmers and producers increases the density of fresh, high-quality, locally produced food in Chicago, and provides the basis for a regional cuisine.

The Geneva Green Market/Geneva Community Winters Markets are principally “PRODUCER ONLY” farmers markets. This means that the people who you purchase your items from are the people who produce, plant, grow, harvest and process the products at the market. Most of the sellers are the farmers themselves. With mileage criteria of 200 miles, most of farms can be visited and many have field visitation days during the season. We think of our markets as vibrant gathering places. It’s the producers, products and people that make a farmers market special. If you are interested in joining our extended market family, winter or summer, please contact us: genevagreenmarket [at] gmail. com. Know your farmer, know your food. From November thru May we go indoors and become the Geneva Community Winters Market. Visit is on fb for the most current and up to date information.

Get ready for an all new, European experience when you shop the Market this season. In an effort to continue improving our summer farmers market, we have increased the number of vendors and offerings, adding the culture and style of France with our brand new Homewood French Market. The Village will see new vendors selling fresh food and drink, flowers, clothing, arts, crafts and jewelry. The Homewood French Market will be held across the street from St. Joseph’s in the Village Parking Lot located at 2020 Chestnut Road. The venue change allows for the installation of traditional, imported French market canopies, so even if it’s raining, shoppers and vendors can stay dry. The new venue also provides restrooms and ample parking, and electricity for a full outdoor music schedule during Market hours: 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM. The popular Touch of Green events will return this year, and the Market will also feature monthly children’s events, sponsored by local businesses, including Goodspeed Cycle and Jo-Ann Fabric.

The Oak Park Farmers' Market offers high quality, locally grown produce in the friendly, historic Village of Oak Park. The Market is a step back into simpler times . . . buying things from the farmers who grow them, surrounded by the sounds of live bluegrass music, the smell of freshly made donuts and the profusion and variety of nature's bounty. The Market is open every Saturday beginning the second to last Saturday of May through October. Market hours are 7 a.m. - 1 p.m. Pilgrim Church, right next door to where the market is held, offers fresh warm donuts, juice and coffee, with live bluegrass music nearby. The Oak Park Farmers' Market is located at 460 Lake St., just one block west of Ridgeland Avenue. The Market is much more than a farmers' market. It is an Oak Park tradition, a Saturday gastronomic event (the donuts have a devoted following), a concert site, a social event and a great place to pick up super-fresh produce, traditional and unusual plants, fresh cheeses, honey, flowers, vinegars, herbs, and much more. The Oak Park Farmers' Market also features unique items for sale at the commissioners' table, including items you can't find anywhere else, such as reasonably priced T-shirts, one-of-a-kind items and bags, all offering a beautiful, functional way to support the market.

Market at the Square is one of the largest and most diverse farmers’ markets in Illinois, and helps demonstrate Urbana’s firm commitment to sustainability. This gateway into Lincoln Square Village and historic downtown Urbana has enjoyed steady patronage since its inception in 1979, and a recent surge of interest in farmers’ markets nationally has translated into enviable growth for Urbana’s market. Market at the Square showcased over 150 registered vendors in 2011, and patron attendance reached into the thousands each weekend. Patrons can choose from a wide variety of made-in-Illinois goods at the Market, including fresh produce, meat and dairy products, prepared foods, plants, and flowers to jewelry, pottery, wood workings, candles, bodycare products, garden décor, clothing, and more! Join thousands of residents and visitors during Market season and connect with growers. Choose locally-raised foods and treasure-hunt among the art and craft vendor booths. Gather information about local non-profits, schools and other community groups on our Community Row. Catch up with friends, take in a set from local performers, and enjoy the public square atmosphere the Market has to offer.
