ILLINOIS THOROUGHBRED BREEDERS FUND PROGRAMS
An Illinois Conceived and Foaled Thoroughbred for 2012, is a foal dropped in Illinois by a mare that
was bred to an Illinois-Registered Stallion. The sire being a stallion that was certified with the Illinois Department
of Agriculture at the time of the foal's conception.
- The mare's current breeding is submitted by the owners of Illinois-certified stallions, or their agents,
by September 1 of each year.
- An eligible mare must remain in Illinois for a total of thirty (30) days; which must include her foaling time.
- An Illinois Application for Foal Registration must be filed with the Department of Agriculture within 10
days of the foaling date.
- Foals must be identified or its registration issued before leaving Illinois.
- Eligible foal's Jockey Club Certificate of Registration must be submitted to and certified by the
Illinois Department of Agriculture.
An Illinois Foaled Thoroughbred (Early-Arrival Program) for 2012, is a foal dropped in Illinois by a
mare that arrived in Illinois on or before December 1 of the year of conception. The sire being a stallion
that was not certified with the Illinois Department of Agriculture at the time of the foal's conception.
- Request and submit an Illinois Foaled Mare Status Report to the Illinois Department of Agriculture
on or before December 1, 2011.
- An eligible mare must be in Illinois on or before December 1 of the year of conception.
- The eligible mare may be inspected at an Illinois location.
- Mares must remain continuously in Illinois until the foal is born. If the mare leaves for any reason,
she becomes ineligible to the Illinois Early-Arrival Program. If you desire to bring a mare back into
the state to foal, please call regarding eligibility options into the New Purchase or the Breed-Back
Program.
- An Illinois Application for Foal Registration must be filed with the Department of Agriculture within
10 days of the foaling date.
- Foals must be identified or its registration issued before leaving Illinois.
- Eligible foal's Jockey Club Certificate of Registration must be submitted to and certified by the Illinois
Department of Agriculture.
An Illinois Foaled Thoroughbred (New Purchase Program) for 2012, is a foal dropped in Illinois
by a mare that is purchased at a public auction, is 100% Illinois owned and arrives in Illinois before
February 1 of the foaling year. The sire would be a stallion that was not certified with the Illinois
Department of Agriculture at the time of the foal's conception.
- Request and submit an Illinois New Purchase Mare Status Report to the Illinois Department of
Agriculture before February 1, 2012.
- An eligible mare must be in Illinois before February 1.
- The eligible mare may be inspected at an Illinois location.
- Mares must remain continuously in Illinois until the foal is born.
- An Illinois Application for Foal Registration must be filed with the Department of Agriculture within
10 days of the foaling date.
- Foals must be identified or its registration issued before leaving Illinois.
- Eligible foal's Jockey Club Certificate of Registration must be submitted to and certified by the Illinois
Department of Agriculture.
An Illinois Foaled Thoroughbred (Breed-Back Program) for 2012, is a foal dropped in Illinois by
a mare that arrives in Illinois on or before March 1 of
the foaling year. The sire being a stallion that was not
certified with the Illinois Department of Agriculture at
the time of the foal's conception.
- Request and submit an Illinois Breed-Back
Mare Status Report to the Illinois Department of
Agriculture on or before March 1, 2012.
- An eligible mare must be in Illinois on or before March 1.
- The eligible mare may be inspected at an Illinois location.
- Mares must remain
continuously in Illinois
until the foal is born and remain 30 days after foaling.
- An Illinois Application for Foal Registration must be
filed with the Department of Agriculture within 10 days
of the foaling date.
- Foals must be identified or its registration issued
before leaving Illinois.
- Mares must be bred to none other than an
Illinois-Certified Stallion during the
season of foaling.
- Eligible foal's Jockey Club Certificate of
Registration must be submitted to and certified by the Illinois
Dept. of Agriculture.
