This coming mid to late June, the areas depicted in the map links listed below are scheduled to receive an aerial application of Hercon Disrupt II intended to eliminate European Gypsy Moth. Yellow fixed wing aircraft (air tractors) will apply 6 grams (approx 1/8 cup) or 15 grams (approx 1/4 cup) per acre of the material to each area.
Disrupt II is the synthesized female pheromone of the European Gypsy Moth. By introducing this pheromone in areas of light infestation, males are not able to locate the females, hence mating is prevented, reproduction ceases, and the unwanted infestation is eliminated. Small green plastic flakes are impregnated with the pheromone, a Post-it type glue is added, and then the flakes are aerially released. This product does not pose a risk to humans, animals, non-target organisms, or the environment.
Weather pending, the applications may occur any day of the week, and the overall treatment should only be a 1 to 2 day event. For questions and concerns, please contact our DeKalb office at 815-787-5476. The areas scheduled to receive the treatments are shown in the following map links:
